1. What’s your name, where are you from and how long have you been a member of the TS?
My name is Van T Ly; I grew up in Saigon, Vietnam. I came to U.S.A in 1980 and stayed in Houston Texas. I joined the National T.S as member in 2000 and became a life time member in 2005.
2. Are you active in your Lodge/Section and if so, what do you do?
I love working with all brothers and sisters at the Vietnamese Study center, West Sturdy Center and Houston Lodge. As a busy bee, I’m involved and do what I can for Texas T.S community. Recently I’m also a board member of the national T.O.S.
3. How did you first learn about Theosophy or come in contact with the Society?
Loved the Truth from the childhood, I’m always praying and searching for the right path. I met brother Hai Le and started learning about Theosophy in 1995. Just like the dry plant needs some water, I found the Truth, it has changed my life, I learn and am joyful to enter the serving Path.
4. What does Theosophy mean to you?
Theosophy gives me the happiness of life, the Universal Brotherhood brings me closer to everyone, the love of the big family. I wish everyone can have a chance to read the T.S books or to meet some real Theosophists. May the truth grow on them like it happened to me.
5. What is your favorite Theosophical book and why?
I’m not a good reader but every book of Theosophy that I’ve read, has helped every step on my journey such as At the Feet of the Master, Invisible Helper, Masters and the Path.
6. What in your opinion is the biggest challenge the TS is facing at the moment?
All T.S members should be more active, study more, work more and share our knowledge with others. The best help is not how much we know but how much we do and care for others.
7. Is there anything you would wish for the future of the Theosophical Movement?
Theosophy is the family for all spiritual seekers. A lot of people have been looking for the Truth. We need to use every available means to bring Theosophy to the general public. Open arms, be happy, and spend more time with the young seekers. Remember they are young in their body but not young in their soul.
