Mini–interviews Nancy Blott

The Society MI 2 Nancy Blott

1. What’s your name, where are you from and how long have you been a member of the TS?

Nancy Blott, Oklahoma City, became a member the TSA 1986; Life Member-2016.

2. Are you active in your Lodge/Section and if so, what do you do?

Yes. President of the Oklahoma City Lodge. We hold weekly meetings in my home. Currently studying H. P. Blavatsky’s The Secret Doctrine. Facilitate and host TSA National Speakers events.

3. How did you first learn about Theosophy or come in contact with the Society?

A former teacher/mentor would use her materials in his classes. When my company relocated me to work in Chicago, he suggested I wasn’t far from Wheaton, IL, the National Headquarters location for the TSA. I met a bag lady at a church on a cold day in November, and I mentioned Theosophy to her. She started pulling out brochures from her bag about Theosophy meetings. As it happens, there were two lodges within walking distance from my workplace. I attended both.

4. What does Theosophy mean to you?

Theosophy is a way of life. It is the spark that kindles the flame and burning desire to seek a loftier way.

5. What is your favorite Theosophical book and why?

H. P. Blavatsky’s The Voice of the Silence. It is small enough to carry in your pocket for ready reference… like HPB it is your constant companion, and reminder.

6. What in your opinion is the biggest challenge the TS is facing at the moment?

To be mindful and open to the changes occurring affecting our harmony with others (nations), dedicated effort to work together to protect the environment, including all life. Continued effort to assist suffering humanity and protection of Mother Earth and her worlds.

7. Is there anything you would wish for the future of the Theosophical Movement?

The internet and webcasts are valuable tools to further the teachings. Perhaps exchange students from various cultures to visit groups, interacting in a local setting, and sharing ideas seems an interesting cultural exchange, and sharing a common interest.

From the editor:

Opinions and ideas expressed in the mini-interviews are exclusively of those who are being interviewed. They don’t necessarily represent the ideas and opinions of the compilers of Theosophy Forward. The responses of the interviewees are not edited for content. Some contributors give short answers to the questions while others touch upon the subject more elaborately.
