- What’s your name, where are you from and how long have you been a member of the TS?
I’m Silvia Caprari and I live in Milan, Italy but I’m originally from Pisa and I lived for several years in Genoa. I have been a TS member for 5 years.
- Are you active in your Lodge/Section and if so, what do you do?
I’ve been the President of the Gruppo Teosofico Ars Regia of Milan since September 2019.
Together with the Board of Directors I organize the Group activities including study meetings during the week and a series of conferences open to public every Saturday afternoon.
In September 2019 the Gruppo Ars Regia elected a delegate of Ordine Teosofico di Servizio Italia in order to give our contributions to all national and international projects.
- How did you first learn about Theosophy or come in contact with the Society?
My first contact with Theosophy happened many years ago, while reading Light on the Path and then after some time I also discovered Anthroposophy. Throughout the years I ran into different paths but Light on the Path always echoed inside me.
Unexpectedly I moved to Milan and as soon as I arrived there, I went to the local Theosophical Society Lodge and it felt like home.
- What does Theosophy mean to you?
Theosophy for me is the light of my life. Theosophical wisdom is a key and a tool which gives meaning to existence and helps me to be better in order to help others.
- What is your favorite Theosophical book and why?
It’s a very difficult question because every book that I read was important, essential and crucial and I still need to read more. Among my favorites I can mention: The Key to Theosophy for its richness, clarity of contents and directions for theosophical practice; The Mahatma Letters for their deep and copious teachings; In the Outer Court by A. Besant because of the intense reading and finally Light on the Path which aroused a “light” in me.
- What in your opinion is the biggest challenge the TS is facing at the moment?
Reinventing itself upholding the tradition. The TS should be able to develop a way coherent with the features of present time, keeping both fundamental values and contents as the essence of Theosophy.
- Is there anything you would wish for the future of the Theosophical Movement?
May the aim of the Universal Brotherhood become part of our lives more and more, may people put into practice what they study being aware that by doing so they could be of benefit for Mankind. In my opinion, Theosophical values, knowledge and ethics are fundamental to understand life better. By embodying and making them apparent in our behaviors, we can really testify how they are important to live life.
