After my work on the Frontispiece for The First Salon of Theosophy, set up by Erica Georgiades, with invited co-hosts Lyndon Smith and Taposhri Ganguly and that took place on the September 7 , I prepared the Frontispiece for The European School of Theosophy 2021.
This Frontispiece was inspired by the title "THE HEART CHAMBER OF THE LION" and comes from W. Q. Judge’s contribution to "H.P. B. - In Memory of Helena Petrovna Blavatsky by some of her Pupils”. London, New York, Madras, 1891, where Judge states:
"(...) Others I know have looked with suspicion on an appearance they could not fathom, and though it is true they adduce many proofs which, hugged to the breast, would damn sages and gods, yet it is only through blindness they failed to see the lion's glance, the diamond heart of H. P. B. (...) H. P. B. had a lion heart, and on the work traced out for her she had the lion's grasp;(...)".
I also discovered the H. P. BLAVATSKY SCRAPBOOKS online, from a Russian website, headed by our good friend PAVEL MALAKHOV. It has all material fully photographed and digitalized. I spent a lot of time going over these remarkable pages of the first “archives” of The Theosophical Society and was delighted to see some original drawings by H.P.B. and various humorous passages. This is part of the personal archive of H. P. Blavatsky, kept at the Adyar headquarters of the Theosophical Society.
H.P.B. collected materials for her personal archive from October 1874 to 1888, choosing a great number of publications from newspapers. H.P.B. decorated the pages of her archive with art illustrations and poetic works from various authors. She also took snippets from newspapers and magazines and left her handwritten comments and notes in the margins of the albums.
