Guided by Patterns of Light and Shapes

Text and photos by Richard Dvořák

Introduction by Jan Nicolaas Kind

Richard’s regular offerings to Theosophy Forward are highly appreciated by the magazine’s readers. As editor I consider myself fortunate that for many years now, I can count on the partnership with two gifted photographers, David M. Grossman in the USA and Richard of course, in Germany, both lifelong students of Theosophy. When I look at the work of the latter I am always fascinated. The images induce a sense of harmony and peace. With his lens as a musical instrument Richard works as a composer, his compositions seem to blend into wondrous adagios.

In the quiet of mid-summer, I move through nature, letting my attention be drawn to the patterns and shapes that reveal themselves.

Guided by Devas—the subtle beings who inhabit and enliven the land—I capture the light that dances across a single leaf. Its veins, intricate and alive, reflect the unseen energies that surround us, reminding me that each form holds a deeper essence.

The sky above holds clouds in soft clusters, drifting in unity and reflecting a serene spaciousness within. With the Devas close, I let my lens move with their subtle direction, capturing shapes that reflect the sky’s gentle rhythm and my own journey toward inner stillness.

As the sun sets, casting a golden glow over a solitary tree, I feel the guiding presence of these beings more strongly. Together, we capture the timeless patterns and forms that unite the visible and invisible, nature’s shapes becoming symbols of my inner journey towards unity and identity. In this sacred moment, I feel the presence of Devas both near and far, whispering their guidance, filling each captured shape with the harmony of our shared purpose in creating art.
