Mini-interviews Pier Giorgio Parola

MI 4 Pierunnamed

1.What’s your name, where are you from and how long have you been a member of the TS?

My name is Pier Giorgio Parola. I have always lived in Italy, in Turin, and I have been a member of TS since 1973.

2.How long have you been a member of your Section’s Board?

I don't remember exactly, but definitely in the last twenty years.

3. How did you first learn about Theosophy or come in contact with the Society?

I met ST in 1973 through a friend who was already a member, this friend invited me to listen to a conference, I went and joined that same evening.

4. What does Theosophy mean to you?

Currently, theosophical activity is my main commitment, I actively participate in the life of my group and when I can I connect with other groups. I organize study meetings (several times a week) in which members of different groups participate. Sometimes I translate into Italian texts and articles that I consider interesting.

I think that my path is the rational understanding of the theosophical teachings of the Mahatmas. I consider these concepts as LIVING ENTITIES able to act on (in) men: with ethical and consequently moral effects. I think that every man IS THEOSOPHY and that its study constitutes the “know thyself”, which is the entrance into the temple.

5. This year, 2025, the Theosophical Society celebrates its 150th anniversary. What in your opinion is the biggest challenge the TS is facing and what is to be done in order to maintain the Society’s relevance in the years to come?

I think that now, 150 years after the foundation of the TS, the task of the Society is to emphasize the adherence of the BLAVATSKIAN doctrine with all the great scientific theories that have been elaborated since then. I believe that as Master K.H. said: "science is our great ally".
